A Rohingya loaded engine boat from Myanmar to Bangladesh sank in the Naf-river on (Thursday) February 8, 2018.
The accident occurred on Thursday in the Naf-river where the local Bangladeshi people recovered 3 dead bodies of children at dawn.
The deceased were identified as Omar Salma (4 month old), son of Yasin, Mohamed Ayoub (7 month old), son of Abdul Aziz and Abdul Nabi (9), son of Abdul Hai of kulpataung Para of Buthidaung.
Fortunately, 51 Rohingya passengers of the boat could survive.
The survivor Rashid Alam said, “We 54 persons got on the boat at night to flee to Bangladesh from Myanmar. When the boat was about to reach to the shore inside Bangladesh, it sank in the river due to large waves.
In the accident, our three children had been missing who were later found dead in the morning”.
The Officer in Charge (OC), Moin Uddin Khan of Teknaf Police station said, on Thursday morning three Rohingya children died in the boat accident. The bodies were recovered and buried by local people of Shaforirdip of Teknaf.
Rohingyas are still fleeing to Bangladesh owing to ongoing systematic persecutions of Myanmar government against them (Rohingyas), said a local man of Teknaf.
