At least 52 Rohingya men including women and children have entered into Bangladesh through Gularpara border point of Shaforirdip of Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar from Myanmar on January 6 in the early morning.
Just after they crossed into Bangladesh at around 5:00 am, the members of Bangladesh Coast Guard detained them. Later, they were sent to Hariakhali relief distribution center controlled by Bangladesh army.
Although the mass influx of Rohingya into Bangladesh has decreased, some Rohingyas have still been fleeing to Bangladesh in daily basis following the ongoing systematic persecutions of Myanmar armed forces.
The Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Mohamed Zahid Hussain of Teknaf said, Bangladesh Coast Guard detained 16 families consisting 52 members when they crossed into Bangladesh through Shaforirdip border point and handed them over to the army at relief distribution center at Hariakhali of Sabrang.
The interlopers were provided with some rice, dal, blended food, salt, sugar, oil including some other daily necessary items and sent to Rohingya registration center at Nayapara camp.
Despite tight security along the border, the Rohingyas have been continuously entering into Bangladesh every day, UNO added.
When asked a Rohingya interloper said, we are coming to Bangladesh since the violence and systematic persecutions on us are still ongoing in Northern Rakhine (Arakan). We are not able to earn our livelihood due to all kinds of restrictions imposed by Myanmar government on us.
