Two Bangladeshi nationals were sentenced to 7 months jail term by a Peripatetical court in Ukhiya of Cox’s Bazar on December 1, 2017.
According to our correspondent report, two nationals of Bangladesh were arrested red handed by law enforcement forces on Friday while a Rohingya virgin from makeshift camp in Ukhiya was being trafficked by them.
They were identified as Rofikul Islam (32) of Khulna division and Harunur Rashid (37) of Chatkira district north and southern Bangladesh.
Later, both them were sentenced to seven months by peripatetical court and sent to Cox’s Bazar district prison.
The peripatetical court is administered by the assistant commissioner of Ukhiya Upazila, Akramul Siddiqi.
He said, the Rohingya young girl was being trafficked to Khulna by those two unscrupulous men from Balukhali makeshift camp of Ukhiya. At that time, they were red handed by law enforcers. Later, they were sentenced to 7 months on confession of their guilt.
The convicted two prisoners introduced themselves to the court as Imams of mosque.
Quoting the statement of the two, he further said that on 28 November they directly came from Khulna and stayed at a mosque of makeshift camp at Balukhali near the football field. They had lived there for three days. After three days, they lured the father of the girl and attempted to take her.
