A Rohingya woman killed, grandson injured as tried to enter Yangon

A Rohingya Internally Displace Person of Kyauktalung IDP Displacement camp of Kyaukpyu was brutally killed and the other one critically injured by unknown miscreants while trying to enter the Yangon City of Myanmar from Arakan State.

The deceased was identified as Daw Han Sein (65) and her injured grandson was Maung Zaya Tun (13) of the Kyauktalun IDP camp of Kyaukpyu.

According to Ko Tun Tun of Kyauktalun IDP camp, on 10 April 2017, the 2nd battalion commander Zaw Mient Oo of the battalion Ka Ma Ya 543 based in Kyaukpyu called them out of their house saying that they would reach the woman along with her grandson to Yangon.

Since that day we had no communication with them. But the grandson of the woman came back with injury on his body after some days, said Ko Tun Tun.

Zaw Mient Oo as an agent took Kyat 700, 000 from the woman and her grandson pledging to reach them to Yangon from Arakan, according to IDP camp leaders.

On 13 April 2017, the body of the woman was recovered between the Taunggup and Maye and the body was buried on the day after postmortem, said the authority, Ko Pyu Che of the Kyauktalun IDP camp.

The critically injured boy was handed over to me by La Wa Ka officials yesterday, said Ko Pyu Che.

Later, the camp authority Ko Pyu Che himself sent the boy to Hospital for better treatment as he is unable to walk and even to talk clearly following the critical injury, he added.
