Myanmar Border Guard police have been harassing the Rohingya in different forms under different circumstances in Maungdaw North which have become unbearable to the innocent poor Rohingya residents at all.
According to source, on 10 April 2017 at around 10 am, a group of BGP forces stationed at the high way side at Shonalipara of Kyin Chaung, Maungdaw north and chased down the Rohingya travelers, pedestrians and market goers indiscriminately and detained six Rohingya.
The victims were identified as Sayed Hussain (60) son of Bodiuz Zaman, Saydul Islam (32) son of Anwar, Sultan (34) son of Dudu Miah, Nuru 43 son of Dudu, Asharaf Zaman (55) son of Tanda Miah, Shomsu Alam (30) Saydu of the village.
Source added, the BGP chased down several people but six persons could be unfortunately held who were severely beaten by BGP just after arrest.
They were taken to the BGP camp where they were again tortured to injury for confession of giving huge money. But the victims being unbearable to the torture of BGP, they admitted to give Kyat 20, 000 per person.
Later, they were released by paying Kyat 20, 000 per person as ransom.
Another Rohingya from the village said, the BGP every day stations there and detain people to extort money alleging in different false cases.
