AT Correspondent, Maungdaw
Myanmar authority (Shooting Party) came to U Kyey Kya (Burasikderpara) village tract of Maungdaw North as the third time where they took photo of villagers’ family members today 1 April 2017.
Our correspondent report says the shooting party took Kyat 5, 000 from each member of the family for taking photo. They did not take photo of those who could not pay money to the concerned authority.
They also checked the family members’ absence and presence. If anyone was found absent, they took Kyat 5, 000 for the absent member of the family and excluded the name from the family list.
The money was collected from the Rohingya by the village administrator as per instruction of the Immigration (La Wa Ka) official who led the shooting program.
It is a tactic of Myanmar authority to extort money from the Rohingya, says a Rohingya activist.
