Myanmar army has arrested an educated Rohingya man from Kyet Yeo Pyin (Kiyariprang) village tract of Maungdaw North on 17 March 2017.
According to our correspondent report, Mohamed Hashim son of Amin Ullah of Kyet Yeo Pyin, Maungdaw North along with Mohammed Anwar and Maung Maung Gyi were summoned 15 days after the 9 October 2016 and demanded Kyat 3 million from them.
The army said that they would not attack the Kyet Yeo Pyin village tract if they got Kyat 3 million from the villagers.
Hashim and the two others said to the army officer, “Yes we will go to the village and collect the money for you, sir”. Saying like that they were released and went into the village. Later they themselves went into hiding as they could not manage the demanded money.
Since then the three Rohingya men had been hiding in the village from the army. They remained in the village since October 9.
However, from the three fugitives, Hashim was unfortunately arrested on 17 March 2017 by army. Soon after the arrest, he was handed over to the BGP sector where he has been indiscriminately and mercilessly tortured by army over the previous enmity.
It is also learnt that he has not been accused of other cases, but he will be sent to prison with a charge of finding a Bangla mobile SIM card from his possession which is also a fabricated accusation.
