BGP extorts huge money from Rohingya

Border guard Police (BGP) has extorted huge money from a Rohingya in Taungpyo left of Maungdaw North on February 27, 2017.

Police official U Kyaw Tay along with his police forces of Taung Pyo left entered the house of a Rohingya in Taung Pyo and detained the house owner alleged in the case of finding Bangla mobile SIM card from his possession.

The victim was identified as Shaifullah 34, son of Mohammed Islam of Taungpyo village tract.

Later, the victim was set free by police after the having received Kyat 200, 000 of extortion from the victim.

On the other hand, on 26 February 2017, two Rohingya, Hamid Hussain and Amir Hussain from Maung Nama village went to Maungdaw Township to do shopping where they were arbitrarily arrested by police.

The two Rohingya were beaten severely after they had been arrested. Later they were released after taking Kyat 400, 000 from them.

A Rohingya said, different kinds of oppressions on Rohingya are still going unabated by Myanmar forces in Arakan especially in Maungdaw.
