Four Rohingya women and three men were detained by Myanmar police without any legal ground while they were going to Sittwe Township on March 10, 2017.
According to our correspondent report, the four women and three men were held by police while they were going to Sittwe Township for their emergency work such as, to buy their daily necessary commodities, to work for their livelihood and to do treatment.
The victims were identified as Tayoba w/o Shomsu, Shofika w/o Shomil, Mojupa w/o Nur Hussain, Taslima w/o Kala Miah, Zahid Hussain son of Feran Ali, Shomil son of Koligar and Rokim son of Markadi of different villages of Sittwe.
The victims were some common poor people who live hand to mouth in the village where all kind of restriction on the Rohingya people have been imposed by Myanmar so-called democratic Suu Kyi led government. .
They detainees were arrested by police to extort money by threatening them of involving any criminal cases. Myanmar police have been following these kinds of traps for Rhingya to extort money from the victims.
The victims were arrested while going to Sittwe Township from various villages whose fate and further information of their release has not been ascertained yet.
It is not the new thing that the Rohingya are arrested by Myanmar forces for realizing huge money from the Rohingya, said a Rohingya to Arakan Times.
