An old Rohingya man died of sudden heart attack of frightening in AlayThankyaw (Hassurata) of Mangdaw South on 22 February 2017.
The deceased was identified as Abdu Sukkur 55 of Deilpara of AlayThanKyaw.
According to source, a group of BGP and army entered the village to force the Rohingya residents to accept National Verification Card (NVC) which the Rohingya have been repeatedly refusing though the authority has been persuading the Rohingya to receive it.
On 22 February, the old man was called by army to force him to confess for receiving the NVC card while he was passing beside them.
But, as the old man was reluctant to accept the card, he did not respond to the call of army and even he tried to run away.
When he was running away, the army chased him for which he died of heart attack at the spot fearing the arrest and torture of military forces.
Later, the body was brought home and buried in the local graveyard.
No case against the culprit who frightened the man to dead was filed with the police station in this connection.
