BGP extorts money from villagers in Taungpyo

Border Guard Police forces of Taungpyo Letwei Myo extorted huge amount of money from Rohingya villagers of Lapaik Kwan Thibin village tract of Taungpyo Letwei on December 11, 2016.

The victims were identified as Reyazullah 20 s/o Ilias, Md Ayoub 25 s/o Nur Mohamed, Bodi Alam 35 s/o Sultan, Nurul Amin 55 s/o Sultan and Hairul Amin 18 s/o Kamal of the village.

Border Guard Police force entered the area and arbitrarily arrested the victims. The victims were detained at the police custody where they were brutally beaten for confession of giving money to BGP.

Being unbearable of BGP’s torture, the victims confessed to pay Kyat 50, 000 each. The BGP released them after extorting 50, 000 Kyat from each victim.

Moreover, another villager, Ayoub 25 s/o Ismail from Medi was detained by BGP when he was found at his father in law’s house in Lapaik village tract of Taungpyo Letwei, Maungdaw. He has been still detained in the police custody who has severely tortured by BGP, source said to our correspondent.
